Imaging Services
Our imaging staff are all certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and the International Society of Bone Densitometry. Additionally, they each hold a minimum of two modality certifications. Likewise, our radiologists each hold an unrestricted Wyoming license, and four of them have three modality certifications to better serve the community.
In addition to the primary medical care, wellness care and preventative medicine that patients expect from a family practice, Western Medical Associates also provides top-notch medical imaging and diagnostic services. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), CT scans, ABI (Ankle/Brachial Indices), diagnostic x-ray, ultrasound, and bone densitometry (Dexa scans).
All imaging equipment is from Siemens, one of the leaders in the medical imaging industry. X-ray film is not required for this equipment, meaning that all imaging is done digitally with the images being stored on a server. Patients can receive a copy of these images on disc at no cost, although we do require a 24-hour notice and ID at the time of pick-up. All images are interpreted by our board certified radiologists, who then ensure that patients have a full understanding of the results.
We strive to make scheduling an appointment for these services as easy as possible, and we offer extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily to accommodate our working patients. While an appointment is always appreciated for imaging services, some of them require no appointment at all. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) studies can be performed on a walk-in basis until 5:00 p.m., while Dexa scans can be performed until 5:30 p.m. (we do ask that patients receiving this service do not take any calcium supplements on the day of the scan). Diagnostic x-rays can be performed until 5:50 p.m., although we do ask that these be scheduled as they have specific requirements that ensure the exam is done correctly.
CTs and MRIs usually require insurance pre-authorization, and non-WMA patients will need an order or prescription from their physician for imaging exams to be performed at our facilities. A 24-hour turn-around time is standard for our imaging services.
